Two women, trapped in a safe house where nothing is safe and no one can be trusted are at the core of SHELTER, a modern day take on a John LeCarre spy thriller.
Naomi Rimon, a Mossad agent, is sent on a presumably easy two-week mission: to protect Mona, a Lebanese informer, while she recovers from plastic surgery for her new identity in a safe house in Hamburg, Germany. But there are no easy missions in this world, certainly not in this multi-dimensional labyrinth of espionage and intrigue.
SHELTER is based on “The Link”, a short story by the late Shulamit Hareven, and is masterfully directed by Eran Riklis, one of Israel’s most acclaimed filmmakers. In this cinematic game of deception, beliefs are questioned and interesting choices must be made. Fate turns in surprising ways in this suspense-laden, elegant neo-noir experience.
